Animatic
Thought I might try and see what my storyboards look like when I put them against the dialog. Even though Ian said that my storyboards are fine, I'm gonna try some other idea's and see what they look like, just so that I have more options and that I've pushed it as far as I can go ^___^
Don't know why the rest of the dialog got cut off though O___o

Hahahahhaah
I think this might possibly be one of my favourite Pixar shorts ever...even though it is just an ad.
Now not only is it beautifully animated...the chickens laugh!!! I'm sorry, I can't get passed the laugh. Every time i watch it it makes me laugh. I love how the chicks just all burst out in the same laugh and at the same time.
I think it's because that the chicks movement plus the laugh makes the action so random and unexpected but at the same time....so damn funny.

It's practice time!
After Ian's lecture on lines of action on tuesday, I got excited about learning a new way to draw characters and improving my drawing skills. Since that lecture I've been practising what Ian taught us and constantly trying to push myself to make it look better.
Now when I sat down to start drawing I went through the things that Ian taught us in my brain. 1stly, start off with a character. I chose my own called Dabby. 2nd, think of a story....Dabby getting angry at her parents. 3rdly, put down the pose you want wit the action line and the power center. And then comes the fun part of re-doing your pose till it looks great
Attempt 1
Attempt 2
Attempt 3
Attempt 4
Attempt 5
Finally I got the pose I wanted so I drew my character in, while thinking about the symbolism I can use to portray her anger and the type of person she is. This is what I got.
Then I remembered that colour could also be used as symbolism so i added some colour to it ^___^
And there you have it! My step by step process of how I got to my character ^___^
What are your thoughts Ian and of course...everyone else?

Here's some food for thought
While working on Janes colouring exercise yesterday my friends decided to point out that I'm very messy when I colour on the computer (which i already knew) and mentioned that i do too much computer drawings and should go back to doing hand drawn stuff on paper.
This sparked a thought in me (WHOAH!)
If i use my wacom to do my stuff on teh computer, should that still be considered hand drawn artwork?
I believe it should be. Even though it's going onto the computer, the actual drawing is being done by my hands. I still have to sit down and physically hold my pen and make my hands move in order to draw my artwork, the only difference is that it comes up on a computer screen instead of on a piece of paper. I personally have nothing against traditional artists or working on paper, in fact I enjoy doing full scale tonal drawings with my pencils. It's just that if I had the choice between digital and traditional, I'd choose digital because it just works for me.
What does my fellow animators think? Is a digital artwork that has been done with a wacom hand drawn or is it just plain digital?

I have too much free time
Or at least that's what people tell me, and by people i mean cassie, kate, jess and alex.
Aaaaannnnnndddd they're probli right but this is what happens when you don't have a job! And what happens when you have a lot of free time and you are presented with a challenge that is too good to resist? You get...THIS!!!
It's my Captain Planet Fairy!! The challenge was to draw a character from another show in the fairly odd parents style. Well i did one and that turned out all good and stuff but then cassie came up with the idea to do captain planet!!! Couldn't resist, I really couldn't.
I enjoy doing different styles WAAAYYYY too much

I ate a brownie and now i've gone a tad crazy
Yes it's true!!! I have a bunch of random giberish running around in my head right now and it's rather annoying.
See that cute little magical girl at the side of the page? Yeah i did that ^____^
For the oddest reason I had the sudden urge to draw a really cute magical girl and now it's leading into a little series of them. I dunno bout the rest of my fellow 1st year animation students but i enjoy trying new styles of drawing. This one for example isn't actually in my usual style, my normal stuff is a mix of anime and disney type stuff.
Now for something completely random...does anyone remember the movie "A goofy movie?" Well i was reminded of it the other day and the 1st thing that came into my head was those pop songs in it. I found them and downloaded them and now everytime i listen to them i wanna get up and dance, which is bad cause I listen to them on the train. Also, I have a stupid laughing thing stuck in my head from bleach....dumb fake spirit guy.
If you have actually read my little rabblings then GREAT! But sorry to say, you've just wasted a part of your life by reading this.....thanks anyway!

1st animation assignment!
This is the 1st assignment for animation that I had to complete this week. So far I'm not really liking adobe after effects but that might change after a while :p
Enjoy!
